Chalei, “Hula Barbie”, started her career in the Entertainment Industry as a Professional Polynesian Dancer in 2005. With interests in Beauty, Fashion, Traveling, Lifestyle, and influenced by her mentors & peers, she began her journey in the hair industry. The spark of “Hula Barbie” was curated around 2009, ever-since then, became the staple name of the brand. Going into higher-education & shadowing from 2012-2018 with influential and long-time mentors in the hair industry, she then branched off on her own in 2021 doing Hula Barbie Hair full-time.

From the serene Island Breeze to the bustling City Grounds, Chalei adeptly juggles on-location and on-set makeup and hair glam for recent films like Finding Ohana (2020), Godzilla vs. King Kong (2018), and Magnum PI, among others. She also operates as an Independent Stylist at Muse Beauty Connect and serves as a sought-after hairstylist, traveling between the West and East Coasts. In 2023, Chalei is officially a Certified Colorist for Redken. Chalei continues to advance in the industry and plans to educate others in the craft as well.
